Super Bowl Study
Phenix's annual Super Bowl Latency Study, now in its fifth consecutive year, will once again shed light on the latency and drift experienced by sports fans. Unfortunately we anticipate that latency and drift will remain as it has been the past four years - ranging from 30-90 seconds. We will measure latency and drift from seven different streaming providers including fubo, NFL+ and ViX; look for the results on our website and in the press.
While some may argue that real-time streaming is only vital for sports betting, the truth is that it plays a crucial role in enhancing the live sports experience for all viewers. With the prevalence of social media engagement during games, where texting, tweeting, and chatting have become the norm, the need for real-time video streaming becomes even more evident. Watching the Super Bowl together, even if virtually, should be a seamless and interactive experience. Anything less compromises the enjoyment for all involved.
